ApsoWest was formed as a hobby taken up in retirement on Ron’s 66th birthday, 25th January 2013. We specialise in handmade coin jewellery, using gold or silver plating. As every piece of coin jewellery has a date, they are an ideal Birthday, Christening or Wedding Present. We are here to answer any questions you may have about our designs and colours used.
 We have various settings in Cuff-Links, Necklaces, Rings, Tie Pins, Ear Studs, Brooches or Book Marks to show the coins at their best. The prices vary according to the work involved, pieces to suit every pocket. Two of my favourite coins are the silver thruppence (joey) and the Half Crown. The half crown shield takes time, it is gold plated and then enamelled using a pin, it then becomes a stunning pendant.
The Florin (2 shillings) and shillings (English & Scottish) have now been added to the range of coins we enamel, they all make stunning pendants or keep sakes.
 For those who are old enough to remember, this 1977 Eisenhower, One Dollar coin represents the moon landings ‘The Eagle Has Landed’. It can be made into a pendant or a bolo. The eagle has been gold plated and the moon’s surface and the distant earth are left silver, completely different and a one off.

We would be happy to quote for a Christening, weddings or a special birthday, 18/21/30/40/50/60/70/80/90/100, although all birthdays are special. Let us know the date and we will supply the information on which coins and finish would suit the occasion and a price to suit the pocket. The finish includes gold/silver plating and enamelling The enamelling uses colours shown on left, but special colours can be mixed to our discretion .

A recent addition is the Bolo, or as we used to call them in the late 1950’s or early 1960’s ‘Boot Lace Ties’. Men and woman can wear them, informally or formally with a buttoned up shirt, suit or jeans. I am using coins, stones and historic tokens.
 My favourite are the golden eagle, elephant, rhino, panda and jaguar, Royal Mint wildlife series. These are gold plated in my workshop with the background black enamelled, using a black leather bolo cord with gold plated bolo tips. The wildlife series centre piece measures 38mm in diameter, the complete length of the cord is on average 1 metre, making the bolo completely adjustable for each person with a bolo slider.
Over Christmas I did experiment with some other designs which extends the selection to over forty bolo designs.
Having already designed a necklace for the four heads of the queen, I decided to add the new 2015 head into a bracelet showing all five heads on Queen Elizabeth II coinage.
The new designed 2p head is in the centre and the top left is a farthing, the rest are 1p coins over her decimal coinage period. The bracelet fittings are copper coloured. I have five different coin bracelets for our Craft Stall.
 The bracelet is made from Sterling Silver coins (50% silver) with magnetic clasp, a beautiful present with the coins all 1935. Bracelets can be made for any birthday as long as the coins were minted that year.

As a hobby in retirement ApsoWest is a pleasure but because of its popularity it has taken over all our retirement time together. We have cut back on the weekly craft markets during the summer months, but will continue with the Hemsby Craft Fair throughout the year.

 Keeping the Candle Burning:- I was given the privilege of cleaning and polishing WWII medals for Sandra as a Christmas present for her husband, they were his late fathers. Sandra ordered the correct ribbons and display box, together it made a fantastic finish and brilliant present.
This was a task I enjoyed as the candle should be kept burning for those who gave so much for their country.
